May 14, 2020 - The Financial Market Commission (CMF) announces that from June 1, 2020 Lucía Canales Lardiez, Head of the Financial Control of Securities Division, will assume the position of Deputy Intendant of Securities Market Supervision. She will replace Cristián Álvarez Castillo, who submitted his resignation as of that date for personal reasons.
CMF Chairman Joaquín Cortez, on behalf of the Commission's Council, thanked Mr. Álvarez for his important contributions over the last three years at the Intendance of Securities Supervision, as well his valuable input for both the institutional integration process and the consolidation of the CMF's new institutional framework. Mr. Álvarez also worked for over two decades at the former Superintendence of Banks and Financial Institutions (ex-SBIF), where he became Head of its Financial Risk Department.
Chairman Cortez also acknowledged the commitment and responsibility with which Mrs. Canales will continue to lead that Intendance starting next June.
Mrs. Canales has worked at the Commission for over 30 years. She holds a degree in Business Administration from the Pontificia Universidad Católica de Chile, and a master's degree in Business Administration from ESADE-Barcelona. Mrs. Canales joined the former Superintendence of Securities and Insurance (ex-SVS) as an analyst in the Securities Studies Division, later becoming its Head. Afterwards, she took charge of the Financial Control of Securities Division, and was also a member of the Risk Classification Commission for over a decade.
