CMF announces workshops with private sector to move forward with Capital Market Development Agenda

Workshops on four key topics will be held in August and September 2025: corporate governance; financing for small-sized businesses; promotion of savings; and market depth and infrastructures.

The objective is to release a Policy Document on Capital Market Modernization during the first half of 2026.

July 31, 2025 - Solange Berstein, Chairwoman of the Financial Market Commission (CMF), presented today a schedule of workshops with the private sector to move forward with its Capital Market Development Agenda.

The Commission held a call for private sector proposals to promote capital market development between December 17, 2024 and March 21, 2025. The initiative was a success, with over 200 proposals submitted by trade organizations, financial institutions, academics, and experts. These proposals will be published on the CMF website soon.

At the "Capital Market: Growth Engine for Chile" seminar organized jointly with ICARE's Circle of Economics and Finance, Chairwoman Berstein stated that four workshops with representatives of the different financial sector industries will be conducted in August and September 2025. Each workshop will focus on one of the following key topics: corporate governance; financing for small-sized businesses; promotion of savings; and market depth and infrastructures.

Chairwoman Berstein added that this initiative aims to develop a Policy Document on Capital Market Modernization with a plan to move forward with developing the Chilean financial market. Dialogues with the private sector will be a key asset for this. The Policy Document will be released during the first half of 2026 and incorporate initiatives, when applicable, during annual workplan reviews of the CMF's General Regulation Directorates.

"We have set up dialogue channels to generate a short-, medium- and long-term financial market development agenda that allows sustainable, substantial improvements in benefit of people," said the Chairwoman. "Active participation of all involved sectors is required for this initiative to be successful," she stressed.

The CMF will announce a call to participate in these workshops during the coming days.
